Influenza Vaccination  2009

October 2009

We are pleased to confirm that the practice has pretty much completed the seasonal flu vaccination programme.

We have a few doses remaining for any “worried/well” patients.  Please phone the surgery appointment line

To book an appointment with a nurse (only whilst stock remains).  We thank all our patients for attending

and can confirm that the practices has achieved a 95% uptake this year.

H1N1 (swine) Flu

As you will have heard in the national press, the vaccine has now started to be distributed to practices.

What the press have not said is that this will take 3 weeks to be distributed to all surgeries.  We will not be getting

our supply until AFTER 11th November 2009.     Another fact that has not been mentioned is that we will only

be getting 500 doses initially and we will then be able to re-order.   This will mean that some patients in the

first priority group will not be getting an injection until December.

Unlike the seasonal flu that we purchase, we cannot offer the H1N1 vaccine to any other patient outside the

Department of Health priority groups.  Unlike the seasonal flu not all over 65 year olds will be getting this

Injection, only those that have an increased risk of complications should they get the virus.
